A lot of detail was put into Merry's crack in that straight-on ass shot/panel. I suppose Lynn was trying to emphasize depth, to highlight Merry's rotund buttocks; i.e. baby's got back; i.e. she got junk in the trunk.
Unfortunately (fortunately?) it looks like she stained her pants, likely with poo from bum.
